Archaeological Technician and Office Administrator
Position Title: Archaeological Technician (50%) and Office Administrator (50%)
Position Status: Full-time, Permanent, Regular/Benefited, Non-Exempt
Compensation: commensurate with experience, plus benefits

Position Description Summary: Albion is seeking to hire an Anthropological Archaeologist to support our projects and operations in an entry level role. We anticipate that 50% of the employee’s time will be dedicated to archaeological technician roles and responsibilities, supporting Albion’s field and laboratory projects. The other 50% of the employee’s time will be dedicated to administrative roles and responsibilities, supporting the Company Principals in administering the operations of the company.
This position is an excellent opportunity for someone interested developing skills for a career in CRM. It will provide not only valuable insight into to how a CRM firm operates, but will offer opportunities to develop a broad range of skills beyond a typical technician position. Required Qualifications:
B.A. in Anthropology/Archaeology
Completion of certified field school
Basic understanding of archaeological method and theory
Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel
Experience with database management systems (e.g., Microsoft Access, EndNote)
Excellent writing and communication skills
Capable of professionally representing Albion to staff, clients, subcontractors, and the public
Punctual, detail-oriented, motivated, self-directed, team-oriented
Available to work on time-sensitive processes

Example Responsibilities:
Office Administration Responsibilities (50%)
Filing
Maintain orderliness of common areas
Assist in the management of office and field equipment (e.g., computers, copier, iPads, cameras, GPS, company vehicles, field tools)
Maintain office supplies
Assist staff with minor IT issues
Assist Project Managers with project mobilization tasks (e.g., rental cars, lodging, stakeholder communication/consultation letters)
Technical edits of reports
Report Formatting
Report Production
Mailing and shipping
Manage Endnote Database
Archaeological Technician Responsibilities (50%)
Perform basic survey and excavation
Construction monitoring
Efficiently use a compass, and read topographic, aerial, and project maps
Draw site and feature maps
Complete standard archaeological site records
Fill out record forms in an accurate and concise manner
Conduct basic identification of cultural materials in the field and in the lab
Carry out laboratory procedures such as washing and organizing materials in the field
Carry out additional laboratory procedures such as cleaning, sorting, cataloging, and accessions
Enter archaeological artifact and project data in appropriate forms and databases
Prepare artifacts for curation according to standard Albion guidelines
